The cult classic of horror cinema, Evil Dead, entrusted to young talent Francis Galluppi with the approval of master director Sam Raimi.

The legendary horror series of Sam Raimi, Evil Dead, is making a comeback with a brand-new film. Young director Francis Galluppi, with the support of Raimi, has taken the director’s chair for the new Evil Dead film.

The Evolution of Evil Dead

Evil Dead series, spanning from humble beginnings to the summit, stands as one of the most inspiring stories in cinema history. Its first film, shot in 1981 by Bruce Campbell and four other amateur actors with a budget of $400,000 and simple special effects, unexpectedly achieved cult classic status.

According to Deadline‘s report, Francis Galluppi impressed master director Raimi with his original ideas and was appointed to lead the project.

Sam Raimi praised Galluppi with these words:

“Francis Galluppi is a storyteller who knows when to keep us waiting in simmering tension and when to hit us with explosive violence. He is a director that shows uncommon control in his feature debut.”

What’s Next for Evil Dead?

Premiered at Fantastic Fest the previous year and set to release on May 10th, The Last Stop in Yuma County is a crime thriller that tells the story of a knife salesman who encounters two bank robbers at a deserted motel. The film, starring Jim Cummings, Jocelin Donahue, and Richard Brake, not only showcases Galluppi’s directing skills but also masterfully blends suspense and action. Galluppi has also garnered attention for directing impressive music videos for the indie rock band Mt. Joy.

Release Date and Expectations

Francis Galluppi’s Evil Dead project is not the only film in production for the series. According to Bruce Campbell’s statements, Evil Dead films will continue to meet audiences “every two to three years,” and the bloody adventure of the series will continue uninterrupted. There is currently an approved spin-off project that emerged last February, entrusted to Sébastien Vanicek.

While Galluppi’s work on the Evil Dead film is still in the early stages, the release date of the film remains uncertain.
