Completion of “Beetlejuice 2” Filming

Tim Burton took to his social media account to announce the completion of filming for “Beetlejuice 2.” The continuation of the Beetlejuice saga is gearing up for the big screen after a 35-year hiatus.

Director extraordinaire Tim Burton confirmed the conclusion of the long-awaited sequel, “Beetlejuice 2.” The project faced a halt earlier during the summer due to dual strikes among writers and actors, putting Burton’s “Beetlejuice 2” project on hold among hundreds of others. In an interview with Variety during those days, Burton mentioned being halfway through principal photography when everything came to a standstill. Fortunately, both strikes concluded in victories for the ongoing battles against Hollywood studios, allowing the resumption of filming for numerous upcoming movies and TV shows.

Tim Burton has finally confirmed the completion of the long-awaited sequel’s filming. Although news had previously circulated through various sources, this is the first official confirmation. The director took to Instagram to announce the wrap-up of filming, sharing a photo and stating:

Just finished shooting Beetlejuice. Thank you to everyone involved. -Tim Burton

What Do We Know About “Beetlejuice 2”?

Michael Keaton, Catherine O’Hara, and Winona Ryder return to reprise their roles from the original film in this sequel. Among the new cast members are Jenna Ortega, Monica Bellucci, Justin Theroux, and Willem Dafoe. Ortega is set to portray the daughter of Ryder’s character, Lydia Deetz, while Dafoe will play a supernatural detective that transforms after his demise into a B-movie action star. While there aren’t many details about the storyline of the sequel available at the moment, it’s known to have a direct connection to the original film.

“Beetlejuice” told the story of a happy ghost couple whose peaceful existence is disrupted when a flamboyant family moves into their home. When their usual scare tactics fail to drive away the new inhabitants, the ghostly couple decides to summon an irreverent demon for assistance. However, things take an unexpected turn, and summoning the demon doesn’t go as planned. Keaton’s lead character wreaks havoc, causing chaos for everyone.

If “Beetlejuice 2” sticks to its schedule without any further delays, it is slated to hit the big screens on September 6, 2024.
