Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery prepares to reprise iconic roles…
Announcement has been made for the commencement of works on “The Boondock Saints 3” film. The cult action and crime film from 1999, “The Boondock Saints,” featuring the same lead roles, is embarking on a new adventure.
The Legacy of “The Boondock Saints”
Troy Duffy’s 1999 production, “The Boondock Saints,” which he wrote and directed, portrayed the story of two Irish brothers embarking on a mission to eradicate the underground crime world of Boston in the name of God.
The cast of the production, with Sean Patrick Flanery as Connor MacManus and Norman Reedus as Murphy MacManus, also included names like Willem Dafoe, David Della Rocco, Billy Connolly, and David Ferry.
In 2009, Duffy returned with a sequel titled “All Saints Day,” yet it remained overshadowed by its predecessor.
A New Chapter Begins
Now, the cult action thriller film “The Boondock Saints” is returning to the silver screen with a new sequel. According to Deadline, Thunder Road and Dragonfly Films are preparing a new sequel where Flanery and Reedus will return, mentoring the new generation of outlaws, continuing the legacy of the Saints from the first two films.
However, Troy Duffy, who directed the first and second films, will not return to the series. Nevertheless, there are reports suggesting that Duffy will pen a new book series continuing the stories of the characters.
Efforts for the third installment in the series have been known since 2014. However, the underwhelming performance of the second film undermined the confidence of the production company in the project.
After a gap of 15 years, “The Boondock Saints” will once again grace the silver screen with a new adventure.
Excitement Builds for “The Boondock Saints 3”
Reedus expresses his excitement about “The Boondock Saints 3” film:
“Iโm thrilled to be working alongside Basil Iwanykโs Thunder Road Films and Todd Myersโ Dragonfly Films to bring more of the story of the Boondock Saints to audiences. I canโt wait for everyone to see what we have long been working toward. We are pressing on without our longtime friend and Captain, Troy Duffy on this one. He has decided to write a Boondock Saints book series and I canโt wait to read it.”
Flanery shares the same excitement with his co-star and states:
โBasil and Todd are the perfect partners to bust the brothers out of prison. With Basil and Todd at the helm, this will be the best Saints yet. So now itโs time for the brothers to break out the pea coats, re-load, and get back to work.โ
